About Us
SUMMARY
We provide opportunities for youth to progress from junior levels to professional leagues locally and internationally. Through sports, we equip young people with tools to explore, learn, and grow, guided by the foundation's leadership. As a non-profit, our mission is to foster cognitive and social skills through sports and education, focusing on nurturing talent from underprivileged backgrounds.
Parents in South Africa spend an average of R100,000 per year to raise a child. Old Mutual reports that for a child starting Grade 1 in 2023, parents will pay R651,313 for public education and R1,901,549 for private schooling throughout their school years. As a result, children from less privileged backgrounds often attend overcrowded, under-resourced schools without extra curricular programs.
Despite this, these children are evaluated equally with peers from wealthier families who have access to better schools and resources. Ironically, the children who need scholarships the most are often the least likely to benefit from them. We've discovered that many raw, gifted football talents come from these underprivileged communities, while children from wealthier backgrounds, after attending well-equipped schools, often qualify for free higher education.

CURRENT LANDSCAPE
Many young people face challenges like unemployment and economic hardship, leading to desperation. As a result, some have given up on their talents and turned to harmful activities like drug abuse, early pregnancies, crime, and prostitution. Idleness often breeds these destructive behaviors, harming both individuals and communities.
In the North-West Province, youth face similar struggles. With an unemployment rate of 52.2% and many street children aged 10-19, opportunities for football and other sporting development are scarce. This lack of recreational and social facilities drives many into illegal activities to survive.
Research shows that students involved in sports perform better academically, have improved attendance, and gain confidence. Sports also cultivate vital life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and time management, supporting a healthy, active lifestyle.
Historically, private youth sports programs like Stars of Africa have developed successful soccer players in South Africa, but sustainable sports development for underprivileged youth remains limited and inaccessible.
Schools offering similar opportunities are struggling due to inadequate funding. Elite Development Foundation (Elite Football Academy) partners with football organizations, the private sector, educational institutions, community groups, and the government to provide essential resources for sustaining vital developmental programs for disadvantaged children.
